RR: SB Newbie DH Shuttle Day
16 (STR and non STR) of us decided to head out to SB for some DH shuttles on Tunnel. Halfway down the 1st run, J_Simms decided to do a dismount and jack his ankle (pictures coming).
The boys carried him out of the chunky section then he rode the bike 1 footed Flinstone style to the bottom of the road and then they loaded him in the truck. Mullarks had carpooled with him so he took him back to the OC and emergency. Per Jeff it is "severly impacted" and he will be in a fiberglass splint for 3 weeks. Other than that, it was a good day in the chunck. We had quite a few newbies today (Dan, Steph, Jeff, Danny, Evelio, Chris, Dave, Alex, and ???) and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We ended up only getting 2 runs in on Tunnel, but the rest of the day went without incident (not even 1 flat tire among us). Thanks to Pearl and Courtney for being our shuttle drivers and for the boys that went and got the pizza and sodas for lunch. And thanks to Danny for getting Jeff home safely. We all see a new DH bike in your future Danny!!! I did manage to snap a few photos which I will post after the Path Sale!!!! Jeff_Flinstone  Custom splint by Evelio

Jeff!!! hope your okay man. At least now the knee can get some much needed rest- although now the ankle will be under a wrap.
 I haven't gotten my big bike yet so I'm a little disappointed...

That splint shot is pretty descriptive. "Tunnel" vision indeed! Hope you heal well and fast. Healing well is always better than healing fast.

Sorry to hear (see) about that ankle. That's always a drag. It's really good, though, that you had good people there with you to make sure you were taken care of. Get better soon.

I'm really sorry to hear about your ankle. I was looking forward to riding with you on New Year's Day. When you're all healed up, you and CB need to go back up to SB and show Tunnel Trail who's boss. |

Yeah, I heard some of you were heading up there. I can't help but think of all the carnage that's been had on that trail, but it so much fuuuuun when you make it down without mishap. First the knee and now this. You might want to consider taking a few days off?

That's a bad deal on your ankle Jeff. Hopefully it won't impact your travel schedule too much. I'm beginning to wonder if Nancy and Roger are bad luck
