Its a clay fest that'll send your drivetrain to hell and leave your wheels weighing twice as much, best avoided.

What they said.

I might add that Chino and Coal Canyon are very similar.

I once rode Whiting Ranch in the rain - the final part of mustard had a brand new tyre barely providing grip with all my weight over the rear. Coming down the other side was hilarious. Zero front end grip - one dab of the brakes had the front wheel locking up. My British friend who was with me was as used to riding in slippy conditions as me but still face planted after a total front wheel wash out. Keep away from the clay!

Not much down that way. We are doing the Riverside ride before hitting the Path sale. Why don't you head out here to the Valley of the Dirt, and we'll ride like the wind!

Like everyone said, Blackstar is pretty bad after the rain, not a good place for riding.. Best bet would probably be San Juan area or something in Riverside..

You guys think Black Star will be okay for a Tuesday night ride? Another 48 hours to dry out...

The Hidden Ranch area on Blackstar usually takes a while to dry out. You're probably better off down by HJ or Trabuco.

I rode by Trabuco today and it looked like they were working on the road.

We did Blackstar last Wed night, several days after the rain. Most of the upper parts were fine, but there were a couple of pits of goopy yuckiness down on the flats at the bottom. I'd give it a few more days, especially since it's been so cold.

Rode it last night (Tues.) and it has dried up for the most part. Still a few areas that are soft, but there are lines you can take around them. The only spot with standing water is the first hard right beyond the gate where the road turns from asphalt to dirt.
