RR: El Prieto, for those who haven't been
I have Tues & Thurs off, home alone today before the rain comes thinking a fun ride should clear my mind and get me some exercise.
I live in Arcadia, yet I have not checked out this area until this week. Did El Prieto last week for the first time ever, went back today for some pics. Beautiful trail, technical in some area, some exposure, plenty of rocks to roll off of or get some air off. Those who have been know the trail is great, to those who don't, here ya go First, it requires a long and steady fireroad climb, I took a couple breaks.   not too happy when I got almost halfway up    messing with the auto timer...  AT THE TOP (well, the top of where i was headed. Brown mountain climb was my plan, but it was getting cold and I wanted the downhill)  But what's this?  Blast! I wasn't the first here lol time to update the stickers...  a quick fast half mile fireroad descent leads you to a singletrack with no signs, and this is where the fun begins...      Plenty of places to purposely (or not) catch some air.   one of my goals for 2008, to hit this and land flat, not roll it and nearly go OTB...  more...   A handful of switchbacks normally wouldn't be that difficult, but when they look like this it makes it a little harder/impossible    lastly, it finishes off with some sketchy exposure...    that's it. A little more rocky/bumpy/tight than the pictures show, but overall a quick (8 mile?) fun loop. Probably not beginner friendly, but just tough enough that this noob can do. there's a nice jump at the very end by the road that I want to hit as well but don't have the balls to try alone |

Appreciate taking the time to stop and take pictures. Hope to join you on your next El Prieto ride. I can only ride on weekends, we have a xmas shutdown coming so im for something like this.

Yep, I remember the day we built that. I have to admit I'm suprised it's still there. Maybe we should hook up with Banner and do a few more. That one has stood up very nicely.
Thanks, for the RR. I keep telling the OC contingent about these trails, but they just can't seem to get past that little drive.
