Default Post Santiago Fire Images

Can't show em here, can't even name the trail but if you want to see some post fire images of one of our favorite trails above Cooks go here:

Photographer...unknown.

Hopefully these rains will help start a speedy recovery for our lands.

Judging from the red tinge, I am guessing they dropped a Foscheck line along the ridge to halt the fire...

Then probably put it out with choppers.

By tomorrow night this area might be under snow. Snow level could dip to 4000-4500' feet.

riders blurred to protect the guilty? WTF?

actually, my parents live out that direction and they say they've seen HID blue MTB lights out on the grade at night in the past two weeks- and, yes, they can see areas above and below Luge.

don't screw this up for all of us, people.

edit: I could be wrong- could someone have gotten permission to go out and take these?

ethan, if the rider got blurred out do you think they got permission?

do what the rangers do at el moro and park ridge, just wait at the exit of the luge or the grade and ticket them as they come down. that'll stop things right quick

Duan:

obviously, no, but you never know.

I think it'd be interesting to have someone sitting at the bottom of luge scaring the cr@p out of people and just being there to give them a dose of reality.

Sweet! I may go up to the Peak on Sunday to ride in the snow. I guess the only route to Saddleback that is open would be Holy Jim-Main Divide-Santiago Peak.
My guess is that Holy Jim is in good shape after the rains.
Any thoughts?

Crash and his kiddos did it last weekend- it looks like fine riding.

Ruin it? It's already ruined! We already can't ride there legally.

I did not ride there and take these images. I am sharing them so others (like myself) might not need to go up there and look for themselves if there are images available to look at.

We're not allowed to post images of "illegal" trails on STR so pls remove your images...oh and I wonder if that means all the past posted pictures of STT and Luge?

I don't have direct knowledge but heard upper Holy Jim got worked in the last rain.

Usually lower Holy Jim holds up pretty well. But his weekend's 1-3" of rain may cause problems.

Went up HJ on Monday PM and it was real nice.

Flat on the lower caused a race for light, but it was a really nice ride with fine trail conditions.

shot you an email- didn't know it was your website.

would it be a good idea to post a footnote on the photo gallery stating that these people are riding closed trails and that it's not advocated?

just curious.

FWIW, thanks for the pics.

I think many of us disagree with the closure, but please do not post pics of these trails where the POV could only come from questionable access.

I don't believe there is a single moderator on STR that enjoys deleting posts. I know I don't.

yes, but there's a hypocracy (sp?) here of which I'm totally guilty as well-

we all thanked KeepsWhatHappens for the first post of pictures showing the damage and didn't call anyone out about deleting pictures of a burned/closed zone, so why should this thread's photos be deleted and not the other one?

just curious.
