Default St. George and Blue Diamond pics

Just a few pics from our TG trip to Utah and Nevada.
That's Gooseberry Mesa is in the background of the last two pictures, as seen from the desert floor.

We connected the Goulding, JEM, and Hurrican Rim trails together for a 21 mile loop.

I couldn't resist taking the picture of the wife going over the crest next to the sign. Then when she turned around to come back up, she fell and I had already put the camera away DOH!

The JEM section is about 6 miles of (nearly all) downhill swooping undulating cross country single track. Done alone, it's not a long enough ride but makes a real nice section when combined with the other trails.

Shuttling the JEM trail is like shuttling the Fullerton Loop!

Yeah, but it's still a blast. I did the longer route with the Hurricane Rim Trail, but we went down into Hurricane, then climbed the road back up. Made for a very fun and easy ride.

Did the same loop counterclock last April, my second favorite trail after Thounder Mountain, Gooseberry was a bit more technical than I expected but will try again next time.

Thumbs up

Nice pictures Robin... looks like you and Jane had a ball. Like most, I really like that whole area around St. George... which use to be merely a stopping place on the way to Moab.

I absolutely love the Gould - JEM - Hurricane Rim loop. When I was there last there the JEM trail was a bit chattery from the cow prints during that wet season that then dried. Has the JEM smoothed out?

last time we were up there, they had placed big signs announcing that they were putting up some new houses on the land right where JEM goes through. does anyone know if JEM will be lost?

LOL... nope. and i am not kidding. the same thing is happening in Utah. less than 5 miles from my house in Utah they put in a huge crop of McMansions. lots of Californians that made an absolute rediculous amount of money on real estate are moving up there. my guess is that they no longer have to work and therefore are no longer tied to the city. really twists my hide. i need to find out how to move to canada.

I really enjoyed the sign of the person falling off the bike.

Growth happens nearly every where. When you live in a state with strong privite property rights people will do what they want on thier lands, that includes somethings that I do not agree with. I do not want to live somewhere where the goverment limits land use. Besides I am happy when people are sucessfull and can live thier dreams.

Moving to Canada may be an option, but I am sure things like that happen there to.
