Default RR: Fontucky - Learn to Huck

I already posted this in the Trailhead, but it deserves its own thread. It may be a little biased for my brother and I .

Quote:
everthing went great. Nathan and I arrived at 11:30 and I was under the impression you were going to be be there, but it wasn't a deal as the shock was set up perfect for him to ride, so he rode the chumba and I rode the stinky. We played around on the 4x track learning to pump and jump.
At around 12:45 Ricky and Cameron(?) arrived and both of them showed us noobs up on the 4x. A few minutes later Jojo got there and had a pump on hand and I was able to get my shock all set up and ride my evo for the first time. Everyone else got there around the same time sharky, speckledtrout, et cetera.
We all played around on the 4x track for about a half hour and had one run from the top of it. From my understanding Jojo fell and patched himself up and later left before we got to the DH (not from his injuries I dont think, but because of his wife/girlfriend[correct me if I am wrong]).
We started the long hike up the mountain. Nathan and I were always in the back as his bike is a bit too big for him and needed help pushing it up.
We stopped at a 10'-15' roller that Ricky and a few minutes later I rolled it (Ricky also hucked it). Also at the same spot Cameron and Ricky hucked of a little rock about 2' high (I didn't like the take off, I prefer drop offs). It is amazing what that kid can do on his tiny bmx bike.
We continued hiking up the mountain til we got to the little jump which leads to the hill with the rock garden and started jumping. I seriously thought a couple of people were going to endo bad, but saved them sevles.
When Nathan got ready for the jump I warned him he would see a few rocks after the jump, but not to worry about them since with the air he would not even touch them. Well, on his run the rocks spooked him a little and he watched them as he flew over them only to look up and realize he had tuned his wheel sideways. His backend flopped back and fourth for about 20' before he fell over scraping his elbow and hitting his head pretty hard (thank God for full faced helmets). He had a headache, but walked it off. I was very proud that he even did the jump as it was his first time mountain biking and the basically walked everything else.
Oh, I forgot to mention that Cameron almost got ran over by a jerk on the same jump. Don't know if the guy saw cameron or not in front of him, but had Camerons small tires got stuck or he fell, it would not have been pretty. I can understand that this is a mountain bike specific area, but if people ride like that where there are hikers I can see why they would be complaining.
After the jumps we headed back down the course and did a couple jumps on the 4x track before going home.
Overall it was a great day and I think everybody had a really good time.

WELL...I think we kept the cameras packed away to relax and focus on skill building plus it's in my contract not to have outside photos published... HEY I was poor and needed the money !! Someone brought up a good point to video to learn from them. Next time then our cameras were in the cars but have a few shots from our last few minutes back on the 4X track if Speckled and Rockin don't mind I'll post up??

Trust me guys, you DO NOT want to see the pics. It was fun and we learned a lot, but we should withhold the pics to protect the (mostly) innocent.

You need a fox shock pump. To get one of those you will have to call me in the morning and I will have to set up your bike on the way to your ride. What time are you heading to the windy city of fontucky? Be prepared for dust storms and mid air drifting. That is what it was like today. It might be just as windy tomorrow.
Your shock air pressure should be within 10 psi of your body weight The bottom out reservoir should from 75 - 100 depending on how you like your bike to ride.
A safe place would be in the middle.
