Temecula

Going to be in Temecula over the holidays and need to get some riding in. Never rode anywhere up there, so looking for some suggestions. Checked out Bills Mountain Bike site without any luck, so dipping into the STR reserves for some info. If you have some info or links to some sites, it would be highly appreciated.

Check out Vail Lake. I am sure someone will post some routes up. They have
a 24 hr race and some 12 hr races out there. I have ridden in the 24 a few times and had a good time, but I have also just gone out and ridden a bunch
of the ridge lines and looped stuff together and had a blast.

Vail Lake and Santa Rosa Plateau are just about your only options. The Temecula area doesn't have much.

What day would you like to ride? I should be able to fit a ride in this weekend. Vail Lake is the best in Temecula. A short drive is Santa Rosa, but that is mostly flat, or at least the part I rode on. Hurkey Creek is a blast also, but that is not in Temecula, but worth the drive, about 40 min.

Looking to get a ride in on Friday morning, but not too early. The pictures posted earlier looked real nice, so wouldn't mind getting some riding there. What kind of mileage is it?

Lets plan a ride then Friday morning at 8 AM. We can do the race course that they just ran.

It is about 10 miles.

Hey guys, if you are in Temecula you would have a much better time at Hurkey Creek, it is a simple drive from there and IMO is a MUCH better place to ride than Vail. I am riding there at about 9:00 or 9:30.

yeah...vail lake is pretty destroyed from last weekends race. it is pretty sandy and washed in a bunch of places. the course was running pretttty slowww heading into the night.

the plateau isn't bad if you incorporate a few sections: the gully across from the fire station, the la cresta off-shoot, and the trail on the east side of clinton keith.

otherwise your best bet would definitely be idyllwild as schlepp suggested. i would ride it with you guys but i will be up north.

hey guys it was nice to see you in the lot before our ride! we were pressed for time and had to cut the second ride short due to daylight...

hope you guys had a blast! i know we did. some of those trails are in DESPERATE need of rain!!!
