Normal rides I bring 1 or 2 bottles. Anything over 4 hours I bring 3 bottles. I have a camelpack but I haven't put water in it since the D6. Normally I put food in it if I need extra. It also holds my camera. SJT~if you go just to the rock try bringing 2 bottles. If you plan on doing more, bring a camelpack. I think it will be cloudy in the morning so you probably won't be drinking all that much on the climb, but I would hate to run out of water 1/2 way around the back loop. You can always have Supermann carry an extra bladder for you!!! ![]()

I exclusively use a hydration pack on dirt as I've ran out of water too many times extending my rides, I can stay hydrated as much as I need to be (no conserving), don't have the pre-planning to stick bottles in the freezer the night before, don't like the weight/noise of bottles in cages nor a seat bag for tools, don't like reaching down when I'm in sketchy sections (climbing or descending) and want water NOW. It's just another piece of protection I wear just like the helmet & full finger gloves, eventhough I get sweaty in those too.
BTW, I only use a bottle on the commute to/from work on the road which is 30 min. |

What is this- twenty questions?
![]() Yes, I carry everything I need- except for one item... a pump! On group rides, there are always MULTIPLE pumps available! Chain tool, multi-tool, extra tubes, spare derailler hanger, tire lever, powerlink, zip ties, velcro, jelly beans, blocks, powerbars--- carry them all! Check my ride photos: no Camelbak... no saddle pouch! ![]()

. Night riding requires me to put my battery pack in my camelbak, but I did poke a hole in one of my jersey pocket to run the wire through the inside so I didn't have to wear a camelbak on the Fully one night.
