Default RR: Tijeras Creek family ride

I decided to take my wife and kid for a ride today at Tijeras creek. We parked at Oso and dropped down into the creek. Two water crossings and 4 wet shoes later my wife gives me the "are you kidding me" look. Insisting that it getts easier, we cross more creeks, sand, and gravel pits. Finally the trail starts to smooth out until we reach the Arroyo trabuco/Tijeras creek trailhead. We took a left and hit the singletrack.

The trailer is just narrow enough to fit on the trail and thaks to the fall leaves, I can hear when the wheel start wandering off.

There

There was a drop where I had to carry the trailer and some off camber action:

I told my wife to go up ahead and not wait for me and she motored up the climb to the fireroad:

We rode up to the church at santa margarita pkwy and crossed over to antonio. Then we dropped into the Tijeras Creek trail from the water tower. There were a few water crossings that were hike-a-bike, but with a trailer, it becomes a real challenge to get across without getting wet.

Once past the obstacles, we picked up speed and kept it up on the climbs up over the washed out area under the toll road:

And the wife had no problems keeping her speed up on the way back down:

Once we hit the rolling singletrack along Antonio, i had trouble keeping up with the wife as she remarked how she was laying off the brakes on the way down to keep her speed up for the climb up the other side

The total ride was 3 hours and the only time my kid cried was when we stopped. He actually fell a sleep on the arroyo trabuco trail.

Great RR and family day Steve. Not bad weekend for ya. Good thing you didn't go up WHT with us, you might not have had the legs to tow the kid. I was pretty wasted last night.

If I didn't start cramping I might have been up for it. My legs were sore all afternoon. My wife said lets' go grocery shopping, and I responded "no way." I was fine this morning, but now it's starting to ache again even after taking it slow with the trailer. My wife is in the same boat after being off the bike for so long.
