RR: Bommer Ridge Lunch ride... oh s..t

A couple of minutes before I expected my wife to come by my work for a lunch ride, she calls. She's shopping with our daughter and won't make it today.

It felt a little strange on my lunch ride without my riding buddy, but it was an opportunity to get in a fast paced workout. "Fast" is a relative term, I'm only "quicker than slow."

I start off with a good pace. About 2 miles into the ride, I grab my water bottle. Yuk! it's yesterday's water, warm and stale. If my wife had showed up, I'd have a bottle of crushed ice and water. Then the realization hit me. HOLY CRAP! I didn't lock up the van AND MY WIFE'S bike is inside.

I'm just about at the trail head for Missing Link. I'm thinking I'd get back to the van faster on Bommer Ridge fire road, but the Missing Link/Fenceline single track is right there. I take the single track.

A thought from a thread I read this morning got me thinking with our home owner's insurance, my wife might get a new bike out of this, but she gonna kill me first.

I fly down the single tracks and up the two short fire road climbs to the van. And yes! The bike is still there, whew! It was my fastest time for the route and I'm not gonna get killed. So, since I'm warmed up, I lock the van and do another loop.

It was a good day to ride.
