Hey all, after reading Slayer's and Gene's ride reports about the tree being down on Holy Jim,( holy jim to trabuco VQ training ride )
and with all the training rides that are going to be coming up, I decided instead of riding this morning, I'd do a "little" tree trimming.

Here's the before shot.....

and the after......

and the toy's I use when I want to play "move the tree"

It was pretty fun!

Afterwards, I walked on up the trail to find the other spots the guy's mentioned.

I always love riding through the tunnel. Hopefully nobody every decides it need's clearing.

I found the other spot Gene mentioned that was pretty much just big branches, still attached to a downed tree, laying across the trail. So, I cleared those too.

I also hiked on up to the Holy Jim Falls trail. It's always pretty much been a hiking trail, and the tree's that are down on it are all passable by just stepping over them. So, I let the stay in their final resting spot.

This is the largest of three that I saw.

So, it ended up being a pretty great morning, after having a so, so, night at work.

Holy Jim is clear! Enjoy your rides!!

, I did two sorties with the loppers last week but failed to post the pics. No worries however as neither of us did it for the fame but simply to get it done. If you have time tonight I would love to make use of that wood saw for a tree I couldn't get to on the Tustin Loop ride last week. PM me when it's convenient and if I did not say so already , Thank You for taking care of business.

I don't know the deal with HJ, so maybe it is a different story, but is it OK for us to just go out and cut up trees that are downed on trails? I just don't want to get burned by the rangers for trying to do a good thing in CHSP. There are some smaller trees that are still down, so methinks the rangers could use some help with those. Thoughts?

I'll ask the CHSP rangers if they ever come out of hiding...

I'm not sure about the parks, but the ranger that I talked to last time out REALLY appreciated it. He said they just don't have enough rangers or the time, to get to all of them. Plus with the fire danger still high, they won't take chainsaw's up at the moment.

Jammer, or Chopper, might know about how it works at the parks.

I'd be into helping out at Chino for sure!
