met up with gene (genusmtbkr5) at 9am at the end of trabuco creek and we headed up the bumpy road to holy jim. the weather was great down there today, it started out warm and a little breezy on the way to the trailhead but once we started climbing the switchbacks, it turned cool. it was perfect riding weather. we came across 3 down trees on holy jim before we even made it to the waterfall trail. we managed to move 1, but the other 2 will probably need a chainsaw. the rest of holy jim was in great shape. let me tell you gene is a climbing machine. he did all of holy jim in the middle ring!! i felt o.k. climbing up, but my legs were still tired from the 35 miles i did on sat. and i had a little chest pain from my over the bars at aliso. we stopped at the main divide and had a little snack and then headed on over to trabuco singletrack. the main divide was in great shape, looks like they ran a grader over it, we figured it was for the firetrucks to get up there. we were making good time and then there it was , the wall. once again gene motored up it in the middle chainring while i was cranking away in 1 and 1. we made it over to trabuco and rested for a few minutes and then headed down the singletrack, it was also in great shape, then out the dirt road to the cars. it was a great ride, we came across 2 hikers and 1 mtnbkr at the holy jim parking lot. in total we had 27 miles. just keeping up with gene is workout enough, and he did all that after working 10 hours!!!! sorry no pics but we were moving to fast to take any.

Got off work at 8am and headed to the wash area off Live Oak and Trabuco to meet up with Chris aka slayer. Good ride today, the weather was perfect. Chris aka slayer pretty much summed it up. For the most part, Holy Jim is in good shape. A little rain and it will be in great shape. Trabuco is also in good shape. Lots of leaves on the trail so it's a little slick in some places. Like Chris said, sorry for no pics, I forgot my camera. I was running a bit late and was rushing to get to the wash area. I'm planning on doing this ride again maybe this weekend if nothing else opens up. But this time we go up WHT and back over to Holy Jim and come down. I emailed Chris V and the WS will try to schedule trail work to remove the downed trees in Dec.
Hope some of you others will join me on these training rides. Sat ride,"Tour De Aliso" was 22 or so miles and 4,798.3 feet of gain. Today's ride was 27 miles and 5000+ feet of gain. |

I will post one for this weekend, after that because of Thanksgiving and the San Diego Sladnas ride, I probably wont again till second or third weekend of Dec. I will ride during the week days as well, but I realize most of you have to work.
