RR: A Little Fontucky Practice

So, our Path ride headed out to Fontucky this morning to get in a liitle practice for next week's race.

Tom and Cliff met up with Lacey, Jake and I at the shop. Then we met up with Sauce, Keith, and Joe out at Fontucky.
We played around for a bit on the 4X course to get warmed up. Man, I started getting flashbacks from my BMX days 30 years ago!

We rolled on up to the top where Tom and Keith took off for some XC. It was cool to see Keith out there ripping up the climb to the water tank! He's comming back SRTONG!

Lacey, Jake, Joe, Sauce, Cliff and I headed on down the DH course. Our plan was to just take it easy, and session some of the trickier spots.

I was following behind Jake when we came down the straight to the rock pile. He hit it going fast, and just launched it!
I said "holy crap Jake! If you do it again, I'll get your picture."

He say's "uh, sure".



After that, we rolled on down to the rocks, where they practiced keeping some momentum thru there.

From there, Sauce, Cliff, and I checked out the rock roller section. The kids just watched us on this one.

He was just fine, and we rolled on down the "WALL".

Everyone had a great time. I heard Lacey tell Sara that it was a lot easier than she thought it was gonna be.

I think she's gonna give DH racing a shot next weekend!

As for Jake, his skill's are real good, but he need's to get in more time on the dirt, and less time on the Playstation. So, I tell myself it's time for me to step it up, and start taking him out with us on the Sunday Path rides. That's how Lacey got the bug, and it look's like Jake's getting it too!

Really wanted to make it out but the Push-a-Kona turned out to be a whole lot more than i had bargained and was in shape for...next time!!!

Nice time out there - great weather! I think Lacey is going to do really, really well at downhill. She seemed at total ease on a lot of the hairier stuff. I can't wait to see her kick ass.

I agree about the whole full-face helmet thing! Boy, it's saved my butt at Fontana a couple of times. Even with the full-face I bruised my face a couple weeks back when I went down on a rock. After my body hurting for 3 days I decided to finally pull out the pressure suit I promised my dad I'd wear. It's not that bad - I'm actually wearing it under my jersey in these pics.
