Default good route for San Clemente singletracks

Can someone give me a good route to take, probably about 15 miles or so? Im looking to ride there on Sat. 11/10, kinda want to stay away from the crowds at Aliso. I rode there once a long time ago and have been wanting to get back over there.

thanks, Dale

I just rode there last night for the first time....I got lost and had a blast. Somehow found my way back to the cars. Really you can't go wrong by just going out there and exploring! Have fun!

It best to go with someone who knows it, but like cj said, it's still fun to explore, but you could miss alot and do alot of back tracking and repeats. BTW, it will be crowded there too. I'll probably post a ride there soon.

Start at the dog park and hit up the ST at the sign map. Take a look at the map and have fun.

You're going to love this area in the daylight. I consider it one of THE best areas in SoCal. They keep building new trails and bridges at a pretty good clip. It's really just being "discovered" by the SoCal mtb community at large.

These trails really suck... I'd go someplace else if I were you... Let me be perfectly clear about this: this is a dangerous place to ride, day or night. People have vanished never to be heard from again ... on par with the Bermuda Triangle... abandon all hope those that enter....

all i remember from that night ride was the singletracks were steep and about 5" wide w/ zero transition at the bottoms.

...that and some fire road climb with a switchback...

the last time I rode it was for the socal sinlglespeed gathering that Terminaut hosted. we ride this fri night, san juan to the candy store sat, and the rest of the crowd went and did Noble on sunday- we even had people from oregon down for that one. I was on my on-one (tearing up over the nostalgia)

Rode this trail once and it was a good change of pace from everything else local in (Fully, Aliso, Whitting etc.), got lost like everyone else which really sucked since this was probably our 3rd or 4th ride ever and it was on what seemed like the hottest day of the year (when we had that heat wave this summer-100 plus).
Again, it was good for a change but i wouldnt go back and do it any time soon again, not that fun or technical and more of a sight seeing loop.

the loop isnt long ~5 miles but if you do all the in between and an extra lap you'll be happy

Loop starts at the end of Pico. It is a figure 8 and about 12 miles. Great SS ride

I really did enjoy going out there....I was just being sarcastic! Good change of pace...

Kinda surprised to not see any other mtbers out at night there....Especially with everything being closed for NR'ing except Fully.

psst..........I was also joking.

Seriously it is "ok". Not worth making a special trip from SD or North County. However if I need a quick loop it is a mile from the casa.

There are also a bunch of fire roads that can take you to Dana Point Hills and beyond..............

Default Ride at lunchtime today

Ran into quite a few riders... Steve from Swift Racing was there with a group....and yes they have been doing some trail work but not building trails. Weather was perculiar.. started out warm in the sun.. clouds quickly blew in and the wind picked up and turned cold... fine as long as you were riding. Hope it's better for Gener's ride tomorrow.
