Not sure where you would park.

No stopping allowed except for necessary personnel last I heard.

They only just opened the AFH for commuting yesterday.

Brown is still closed. Don't expect any of the closures to be opened before April, when they will start to re-evaluate each individual trail. That's gonna take time.

It is depressing. I often think that today would be a great day to hit either , Redbox, Chilao, Merrel's (spelling), Strawberry, El P only then to remember that they are closed.

I miss those trails so much, I often would go 2-3 times a week since they are local. Ive getting tired of riding local trails such as Turnbull and Fullerton.

Glendora and Claremont don't even compare to the splendor of the Gabs.

San Juan is the bomb but its kinda far.

I cant wait till we can all once again ride The Gabs that many of us miss so much.

OK, now I'm gonna cry, lol

Are any of the trails on the north slope of Mt. Wilson open? This would include Kenyon Devore, Valley Forge, etc. Could you take the Gabrielino from Chantry to Red Box as an out-and-back?

Even though many of our favorite San Gabriels trails are closed right now, there are still several options open in the front range area.

If the north slope of Mt. Wilson is open and the Gabrielino is open to Red Box, there are many many ways to go exploring.

Provided White Saddle/Monrovia Canyon fire road and the Rincon-Red Box fire road are open, there are even more.

White Saddle/Rincon is closed to MT Wilson. So is the Gabrielino past Sturdivant, though I hear people are hiking/riding it. Kenyon devore and Valley Forge are closed also. I wouldn't even think of trying to ride up around red Box right now.
Our only options for sweet Gabes singletrack are the trails around Chantry and the front slope of Mt Wilson.
Merrill is closed, sunset is closed and according to my sources is just about gone in many places. The Lowe road past Echo Mtn trail is closed also.
We made it to February so April isnt that far off. We should get some solid information by then, but seeing as how the Forest service seems to think that misinformation is the best policy-who knows?

So Mt Wilson Toll road to MWT to Sturdevant ought to be open except for a little snow?

OK, so how about...

Lower Merrill to Castle Canyon to Idlehour to Mt. Wilson Toll Road to Sturtevant to Mt. Zion to Upper Winter Creek?

That's just one example. We're lucky that the front range is crisscrossed by lots of singletrack.

I've been up and down Castle Canyon and yeah, parts are HAB only, but it doesn't seem so bad right about now.

Mt Wilson Toll road doesn't go to Sturdivant. It goes up to Mt Wilson, also it connects to the Mt Wilson trail below the summit. The rim trail off the summit is closed so you cant get to Newcomb saddle to connect to the Gabe and Sturdivant that way.
I know a couple of people who have been caught up there but they just got warnings and were turned back. Aint worth the ticket in my book.
Rangers and work crews are up there so something is getting done.....
Just rode Chantry this morning and didn't see a single biker out there. There were several hikers and some fresh bear poops too.

Lower Merril is closed but the signs keep getting vandalized/stolen. Joe Truth posted some photos of the closure signs a while back.

Idlehour was initially open, but is now closed.

Thanks for the info, guys. Geez...many of those closures seem overzealous and unnecessary.

I guess we're down to the Toll Road and Chantry.

If things will start to re-open in April I can wait until then.
