San Juan after a rain?.....

How is it? The only place I've found that you can ride without ruining the trails are the ones up on Mt. Wilson. Somebody told me San Juan is fine to ride after a rain, but I've never ridden it so soon after a rain. So.....how is it? If it's good, then I'd like to hit it up Sunday.

Lower trailhead up to cocktail is awesome after rainfall. Traction is outta this world. Above cocktail, especially in the canopied areas, can get pretty slimey, however.

I've ridden San Juan after a pretty good rain storm.

It still gets muddy and rutted in spots. The worst part is the slippery rocks at the top. I don't really care for getting my bike muddy and being wet while riding.

SJ drains super fast, I rode it last saturday during the showers then again on sunday and it was all but dry in 90% of places.

I'll be riding it again this weekend due to rain.

Someone has done a TON of trail maintenance out there on the lower half of the lower switchbacks. I imagine next week they will do even more. It looks awesome. They put in a ton of drainage stuff and totally evened out the surface of the lower trail. No more huge rut.

Yeah they did that last Saturday - looked like the boy scouts to me or some form of youth group. They werent all shackled together in orange jumpsuits so I'd say boy scouts.
