Default MS Ride

Hope to see some of you guys out there; I thought a few had signed up?!?!?

I did but I can't ride it.

It's cool my fee and money collected went to a really good cause. I'll ride it next year.

Can't wait to see the pics.

Yep, I'm in. I'll stop by and say hi.

I love doing things like this (charity events) and I get to ride to boot.

Life is good.

Yup! I'm riding it.

I'll try to remember to stop by the first aid tent and ask for Wrecker.

I still think I'm a tad crazy for doing the century route on the first day on my hardtail mtn bike. I uploaded the route to Geoladders just so I could see what I was getting myself into.

http://www.geoladders.com/show_route...t=7&route=9635

Ouch. At least I should be ready for the climbs at the end.

This lady came into my work with a beat up mountain bike and she was going to do the century on it. This thing was beat. I made her day when I told her she could use my bike. She just finished the ride right now and loved it.

What a great ride, Thanks, xhuskr. We had a blast. The ride is slightly different then say the Amtrak ride, they throw in 4000 feet of climbing or more. Last time I rode south we got a great tail wind and finished the century in 5.5 hours, This time it took us over 6. But more then made up for it today as I did the 50 last miles at a really good pace. Finished 150 miles in 8:10. So I feel good about the overall time.

People if you ever get the chance to do this ride I highly recommend it. The food is top notch (Wahoo tacos for lunch, as many as you want) the volunteers litterally run to help you and the vibe is like no other ride I've ever done. Everyone is out there for a worthy cause and I was glad I got to do my part.

Congrat to all that completed the ride! I was surprised by the turn-out, with the rain; it didn't seem to deter many from getting up and on the bike.

Quite a few flats though, the wrench at the 2nd aide station went through 55+ tubes. Hope you guys escaped them!

Thanks for supporting such a great cause

Same Here!

What a great ride! The rain let up just as the ride started so the streets were wet & kicked up all sorts of grime. The first 60 miles were the same as always...a few small hills, but mostly flat. I stopped at every rest stop, all of which were very well stocked with energy bars & drinks.

The Century route was tough. It felt like we were climbing the entire time. Luckily the mtn bike was geared for the climbs and I didn't have any problems. The views were incredible. We rode through a country road, complete with a "Fresh Chicken Eggs" building. Then we rode around a lake, and finally up through trees. I was beginning to lose energy just before the final rest stop so I took a couple extra minutes to regain my legs. From then on I was able to push 100% til the finish. I started at 7:00am and finished @ 3:45pm. Overall the ride took me about 6:45, 8:45 w/ Breaks.

The 2nd day was standard. I stopped to change a flat for another rider. I probably got my fastest time ever going up Torrey Pines hill and passed a ton of riders on the way up.

The best reward will be when we find a cure for MS and I can say I did my part to help the effort.

Props for doing a century on the mountain bike mate.

You've earned yourself some man points.

I think I ran into her on the ride. She was doing the ride with some friends from out of town Way cool of you to help out a fellow rider. She was still talking about it at a rest stop on Saturday...the bike gods will keep you safe and happy!
