It's sold out, but make sure to do the Death Valley Century or Double someday. Most places in CA you can do a century alone since there are so many liquor stores and grocery stores to refuel. Death Valley really is a place that without support, you would be unable to ride. It's beautiful there.

I've done the spring double and it's an excellent double, problem is it's put on by Planet Ultra. But the riding is the best. We did the whole double in 11.5 hours. Lots of fast paced pace lines to grab onto. We were the 5 thru 7th riders to finsh that day.

I think its more fun to roll your own. Last weekend I rode with a couple of friends from Irvine to the Amtrak station in San Diego on Kettner. We killed time at the Karl Straus brewery then took the train home. Its $21 for the train and with the bike you get to board and get a prime seat before everyone else gets on.

Hey Rut--converting back to your road bike? Must be all that tandom riding you have been doing...rumor has it you have been riding with a hell of a stoker...both the poway century (oct 7) and the angeles crest century (oct 6th--10,000 ft elev) look pretty interesting...

High Sierra Fall Century is this coming Saturday. Looks like it's going to be nice. I'm going up with Bergstiger. We have a condo in Mammoth and plan to ride half day on the mountain on Sunday.
