Default Road ride suggestions for Santa Barbara?

My gf and I are going up to Santa Barbara this weekend. We're looking for suggestions for a casual road ride around 30-40 miles. I think she'd prefer minimal (or no) hills. I know Solvang is right around the corner, and home to some good riding, but I don't know where. Any suggestions?

On the same note, we're also looking for good, beginner level mtb trails.

I was looking at that site yesterday, but for some reason, I think the server at my work is blocking me from viewing the route slips.

This looks like an interesting site: http://www.sbbike.org/region/rides/rides.html

Santa Barbara Streets & Paths Bicycle Ride. 22.4 miles long. This ride takes you through Downtown Santa Barbara, passing historical buildings. You will ride on different bike-laned streets and enjoy several mles of bikepath. You'll ride through the exclusive Hope Ranch area. Be sure to pull off for the commanding view of the Ocean and Channel Islands from 200 feet above the surf just outside Hope Ranch. Watch speed on downhills. End the ride with a swooping downhill on Shoreline Drive back to the Dolphin Fountain.

That one looks pretty cool.

S.B. to Carpinteria; did it alot when I was at UCSB. Only one hill of any real size - at Summerland. Pick up lunch at the Deli House on Linden Ave. in Carp., eat on the beach and head back to S.B.

12 to 15 miles (one way) by freeway I believe. Road route winds a bit, but mostly parallels the fwy, so maybe add another 2 more. For a turn by turn description see www.sb-outdoors.org/Trails/index3.php/?ID=198

That downtown route has some climbing, but I highly recommend it. I don't drink, but I went along with some folks who were bar hopping and it was a blast. As long as you're making frequent stops and keeping the pace slow, the hills are a non issue.

Dave, you know how badly I wish I could be riding Tunnel. Hmm...I do have a granny gear on the VPX...You know I love the chunk, chunk, chunk...smooth for 3 feet...chunk, chunk, chunk, chunk, chunk, drop...

Remember when we talked about a weekend in SB with our significant others? Maybe you could take your wife up there this weekend, and you and I could do some of the fun stuff while the SOs do their thing?

I wish I could. But I'm booked solid until mid Oct. Not kidding, every friggen day! But I do have the itch so the first free weekend I get I'll set up a chunky shuttle.

Have fun, SB is such a cool place I could prolly ride the road there too. Well ..... maybe not. lol
