Default Great Bowl Alternative Loop

I went on a great ride this afternoon which makes for a good Bowl alternative...if you like to climb. I took Lida, which changes to Linda Vista in Glendale, to Chevy Chase. Up Chevy to Fig. Fig. to St. Augustine. Then various route back to the Bowl where I ran into some guys from OTB.

Man St. Augustine is rad. My computer hit 20% grade at one point. The first pitch averaged 17%-18% and the upper pitch averaged 10%-12%. Great climb!

After my 70 mile ride in OC, which included good climbs at the beginning and end of the ride, the climbs today were quite fun.

Nice Dr. 20% not bad, thats about what the grade will be in the Sierra Century between ohh say Mammoth an Lee Vining. At 6K feet. Piece of cake.
I just ordered a portable GU trailer, that will hook up to my bike and there will be a hose going directly in the piehole.

That is a fun loop. If you're looking for something else, make a left on Emerald Isle from Chevy Chase. It's a good effort. From there you can either make a left on Dublin St. for a pretty short but very steep climb, or you can go left on Camino San Rafael which takes you across the 2 freeway. It's a wide open descent and you can easily hit 50mph+.

Hey Jessie, Brian why don't you guys come and do Crystal Lake with us? We have two options:
1) Climb Crystal Lake and return ...about 50 miles with 5K of climbing

2) Climb Crystal Lake then on the way back take East Fork and climb back up to Baldy Village for about a 75mile ride with 10K of climbing.

I'll be doing option 2 and would like to have people along, because as we all know....... Misey loves company.

i've been doing a lap or two on an easier version- Lida, Chevy Chase, Fig. Then I pussy out and take Highland back to the Rose Bowl. I guess I'll have to check out that St. Augustine. Ugh.

I don't have time this weekend. I thought I did and was going to hit you up about the ride, but my availability disappeared. Should have firmed things up sooner before my calendar got booked. Hopefully Jessy can make it out.

There is some good climbing up on those hilly streets. I used to sandwich a loop like that in between the Bowl rides on Tue and Thur. for a good mid-week workout.
