LOL...

Kinda like the mountain bikers in shorts, knee pads and a t-shirt who get all butt-hurt when some guy in a full lycra kit drops them on every climb and rails them on every single track of their local trail?

That was a good one!! Said in the voice of Samuel L Jackson played by dave chappell. Thats usually how it happens on the trail.

Pilas,
I think he might be being silly and joking around. Of course I could be wrong!
On a side note, good getting to meet you at D-ville. Congrats on such a great finish!!

On the road, somebody not following "silly little codes" can mean a few people getting hurt.
If you don't want to follow "silly little codes" you can continue ride on the road... by yourself.

Dam, I've read this before but forgot about it. This line is gold. Pure gold. Thanks.

Mtn bikers have the same sort of "code"... if a rider is injured on the trail, or there's a mtn lion or a trail totally washed out it's "good manners" to let other riders know.

Ceedubb, agree about the bunny hopping . I blew a rear rim doing that over a hazard -- instinct rather than good sense kicked in.

As Yeti says, do draft (safely). If this is a friendly group that tries not to drop anyone then they'll make an effort to keep you "on the bus", but some newbies will drop back a bit no matter the speed not knowing that keeping close is their ticket to keeping up and not getting too tired.

It was said with some sarcasm, hence the at end.

All my buddies who are mountain bikers race in the semi-pro class, and they always ride in their team kits. They do get some shit-talking remarks and dirty looks on the trail from the "hardcore" riders out there, which I've seen first hand plenty of times.

My comment was only meant to illustrate that it works both ways

Can't we all just ride along and in peace?

Andy, I guess I don't have much of a sense of humor...sorry.
It was also very nice hanging out with you and your friends at Downieville. What a great race course and what a fun weekend!
Good job on the race as well! That climb was tough enough on a geared bike. Hats off to you guys for doing it on single speeds. I'm glad I didn't race mine.
By the way, what about the guy racing on a SS cross bike. And the fellow with the flask full of vodka instead of a water bottle? Did he really drink that during the race? I'm surprised he made it down the hill in one piece. LOL

The ss'er with the flask is Ron Bolds. He races for Team Hamana. We have been friends for quite a while. He finished about 10 minutes ahead of me.
