Default Half a century on Friday 7/20 anyone?

I have Friday off and was thinking about doing a longish ride starting off at Adrenaline and taking the bike path into Santa Ana that drops you off onto Main. Then taking Main to 17th and jumping on the river trail all the way to Newport. From there take PCH all the way down to San Clemente and then take the train back to Orange.

Should be a little over 40 miles. The train leaves San Clemente at 3:52 PM and 4:44 PM and takes about 50 minutes to get to Orange. From the Orange station it's a 2 mile ride up Chapman to get back to Adrenaline.

Beers at a local bar in San Clemente before the train ride back if there is time(most likely will be).

If you haven't ridden on the train yet, it's totally cool, no extra charge for bikes and there is a separate area for the bikes in every car.

The ticket is like 7 bucks.

I won't bring the bike out of the garage for anything less then 75.

Naw, just kidding. I'll be in Iowa getting ready to do RAGBRAI, (ask Neil about it) 508 miles of great riding.

If work is slow I may ditch and try this. I need the miles.

I might be down since I am off this friday from work... Only thing is I havent done a long ride on my new frame yet to see if the foot issue I had is truly gone(original frame I built was too large), so I may start the ride and if i cant hack 20+ miles, I will rest and turn around.... but it sounds fun!!!

Sounds like a fun ride! hmm...I have plenty of vacation time...

BTW Neccros, if you can't hack 20+ miles, you either have 20+ miles to go back to Adrenaline or continue on on to San Clemente. Riding 40 miles for your first ride may be a bit long.

if it is just over 40 miles at a 12-14 mph pace why not just go out and back and save the train ride for another time.

We can take turns pulling and it will be a peice of cake.

I might be in for this, but if I am in I am riding all the way back. No trains for me.

Not sure if I can handle 80 miles. Plus I like riding the train

I may be down for 80 miles, but I'd have to see how I feel after 50. I'm also riding from my house to Adrenaline and back, 16 more miles.

Default Century and a Half on Friday 7/20 anyone?

I have Friday off as well and need to get in my July century. I'm planning to ride from Pasadena to San Diego taking the train back. Mileage should be about 160.

I'll take California to Huntington, to the San Gabriel River Trail to Seal Beach, then PCH all the way. I figure 9-10 hours in the saddle. I think the last train with baggage is at 4:00 meaning I need to be down in San Diego at 3:30.
