Default Going good

At the start of the year I decided to set some goals for the year.
1) Do at least 3 double centuries.
2) Log over 5,000 miles for the year.
3) Do at least 50 hours of trail work.
4) Do the RAGBRAI ride.
5) Climb over 100,000 feet.

well 7 months into the year and I've got

3 doubles finished and signed for another

Miles are at 3500 and RAGBRAI is 500 by itself. No problem making this now.

Got 44 hours in already in trail work, so I'll probably finish way over 60.

Leaving for RAGBRAI 7/20, also get to ride with Lance Armstrong for a day ( or as long as we can keep up) they say the pace will be around 23 mph, but will stop along the way for regroups and pictures.

Got 88,515 feet of climb and we will be doing GMR again tomorrow for another 6,000 so this one is all but in the bag too.

Anyone else set a goal list and if so, how are you making out?

Default Century A Year

My goal is to do a century a month for 12 months. Things are going well for me as well.

From February till now I've done 1 century a month. Nothing lined up for July yet but I've got August (Cool Breeze) and September (High Sierra Fall Century) figured out. I will need to pick up a ride in January to complete my goal. I suspect I will also do Tour de Palm Springs and Solvang Century again making it 14 months in a row.

I should be still in decent riding shape for PS again. That one really bugged me in that it is usually so easy, but last time I struggled. I want redemption!

Default getting your freak on!

u rock senor freaki'd say going real good. nice set of solid goals and way to go hitting them (or on targer to do so) think unless u riding mostly seaside imagine 100K climbing was never at risk if u hitting 5K in miles, right??? bet if only mtb you can do that in 1000miles? but no means and i saying not noteworthy but if u get 5K should be a lock i'm guessing. what is mix mtb v road?

my only goal right now is to lose the extra cargo i am carrying from being on DL so f'n long. If i could get back to fighting weight before holidays (just in time to pack it on again) i'll be stoked

Default MTB Twice a Week

With lawschool, moving states and planning a wedding, getting out twice a week was my personal goal. Usually I ride the trail just outside my door, Las Virgines/Ahmanson Ranch. On the weekends I usually hit Cheesebro and Eagle Rock in Topanga state Park. With the temps hitting triple digits by noon, I usually head out around 7 or 8 in the morning.

I only ride trails--no road. I had a goal of 2,000 miles, 200 rides (with 3 kids and a 2 hour round trip commute to work no less) and 100,000 verticle feet of climbing.

At the end of June--halfway mark, duh--I had right around 1,200 miles, 105 rides and 106,625' of climbing. I was amazed at how quickly I got to the climbing goal. I'm now hoping to get to 200,000' by year's end. I am right on track for the mileage and total rides goals.

nice numbers!

agreed per my note above. think accumulating vert is not a challenge in socal if u are logging miles in the mtns

My goal for this year was to just get back in shape and drop some pounds. As I dropped some weight I set some goals which are:

Compete in atleast two 5K events and finish under 30 minutes

Compete in atleast two 10k events and finish in under 45 minutes

Drop 40-50lbs

Climb atleast 4000ft per month

Road bike atleast 200 miles per month

Compete in a Duatholon

Thats basically it for me for this year so far I have already dropped the weight and completed both 5K races in under 30 minutes (28m and 24m). Looking for some 10K's to do but there arent very many I may change that to Half Marathons. I am looking to do the OC Duatholon thats coming up July 28th also just have to make time to train for it (5Krun40Kbike5Krun). Road biking is going well getting close to that mark. I am sure alot of this is easy to some but for me I am stoked to be even thinking about this stuff.

Doing the 100,000' of climbing is easier than you think. You need to average 1,924' per week, which can be busted out in 1 ride for me, if I ride the right trail.

Nice Jordan, I'd say you got the best goals accomplished so far. Losing the kind of weight you and Pacman have is not easy. Doug has turned into some kind of mutant now.

We are flying out to Iowa. Shipping the bike next week and we have a booked courier for to carry all our stuff around. We have a shuttle guy dropping us off at the start and picking us up at the finish. We have an extra day booked at a really nice hotel on the day after the ride, so we can take our time getting home. Our group now totals 18 coming from SoCal. We probably won't all stay together, but I'm sure we will ride together now and then.

Congrats on the weight lose guys. Weight loss wasn't a goal of mine necessarily but something I hoped would happen. As it turns out I am down 15 pounds from last summer and most of that has come off since getting my road bike in late December.

So 2 out of 3 accomplished so far right? Now with the Tour started you can accomplish the 3rd.

I was just going through my GPS data for the year and there was a huge glitch/typo/innaccuracy in the month of March. My totals as of the end of June were a little over 113,000' of climbing---about 7,000 more than I thought I had

I've already cranked out almost 8,000' so far in July too

Mike … you da man! That’s very impressive. I don’t keep score or set goals on any my riding so I don’t have any numbers to share, but it sounds like a cool thing to do.

Sounds like you set the bar too low...........

j/k, those are great numbers and the trail work (over a working man's [or woman's] week's worth) is as impressive as any of them. Well done.
