Looks like the Discovery team has picked Levi to go for the TdF win this year. I think it's a good choice.

Let's just hope this year's tour is less "eventful" than last years.....but still exciting!

the tour should be good this year . it sucks that there are no major american contenders, but it's racing so anything is possible.

Question

What happened to George H.? I always thought he'd be the next go-getter!

George is a Classic's rider. He doesn't have what it takes to lead a race for 3 weeks. His spring season this year was messed up by a broken (arm?). He'll be riding in the Tour.

The only American with any chance is Levi. Not sure if Disco has what it takes. Lots of strong teams this season, even without the riders from Puerto.

I'd like to see Dave Z win the prologue, or at least one of the TT's. Would be nice to see Vino win it all, but he's got a few strong teammates. I can see T-Mobile's struggle at the top happening for him all over again.

Also, I think it'll take a lot more than a piece of paper signed to clean up cycling. I highly doubt that they have caught all of the dopers.

Maybe not catch them all, but it'll be watched more then any other time before. I personally believe it wasn't as many as some say, but who really knows? Anyways I'm very excited about this years tour, with so many guys having a chance. Discovery is a very strong contender to me, but there are some other very strong teams too. Levi is maybe a little more diversified in his ridng abilities and if his endurace holds out he will win it.

Especially if he can get a hold of some magic "go fast" juice from his roommate.

KOM will be a good one too. That's kind of what I mean, this is a wide open tour.

Yeah, he just shot up there. Pretty big crash on stage 2. Team CSC is holding the yellow jersey for now.

Here's the medical report after today's stage (lifted from velonews.com)
  • Pereiro (Caisse d'Epargne), digestive problems
  • Arvesen (CSC), fall at 43km, cuts to elbow, knee
  • Schleck, Cuesta, fall at 131km (both CSC), superficial cuts and scrapes
  • Crash near finish line - Cancellara (CSC), contusion to left wrist; Rodriguez (Predictor-Lotto), various cuts and bruises, went to Belgian hospital for X-rays, questionable for Tuesday start; Quinziato (Liquigas), cuts and scrapes; Hincapie (Discovery Channel), cuts and scrapes; Forster (Gerolsteiner), cuts to left elbow; Hushovd (Credit Agricole), cuts and bruises; Bennati (Lampre), contusion to pelvis, to hospital for X-rays
Although not a medical report I liked this from the Jury Decisions and Fines:
Moreau (Ag2r), fined 100SF - compertemont incorrect for "stopping between the depart fictive and the depart reel to satisfy his call for nature"

Hopefully Fast Freddy is ok and can start tomorrow-he's Robbie's main lead-out. I just read that Levi's teammate Tomas Vaitkis is out with multiple fractures of the thumb

Ol lanky George can't do a race without getting hurt. I've been watching Robbie take off for years, but I've never seen him rocket like that. Really good show.
