Default High Sierra Fall Century - Again...

Is anyone else interested in doing this ride? High Sierra Fall Century - Fall Century Ride Store

I found it on a discussion on Bike Forum. Link has nice photos and good reports from previous years.

I know it is the same weekend as the Amtrak Century but the scenery in the Sierra is so much nicer to me than the ride down to San Diego (not that there is anything wrong with the ride to SD). Plus there will be much fewer people.

Yeah but practically everyone I know is poaching Amtrak. Honestly I'm thinking about getting a refund; I'm not taking the train and there is little need for SAG support on that ride as there is a 7-11 about every 5 miles. Plus the $65 would be nice to spend on something else. The Amtrak is more of a social event for me at this point.

Based on the route I created in Topo there is about 5,500 feet of climbing. The lowest elevation is about 6,400' and the highest is 8,200'.

Dr.
The Bergmeister is in on this one. This is my kind of a ride. Awesome. Could not ask for a better venue.

Since Bergsteiger is in then I think I'm going to do the Sierra ride rather than the Amtrak ride. I have had my eye on this ride for months and I've done the SD ride twice in two months.
