Default Look vs. SPD-SL pedals

I'm looking to upgrade from my SPD pedals/cleats on my current setup to something more fit to ride longer distances.

I've been looking at the Look setup as well as the SPD-SL pedals. Which one should I go with? What are the pros/cons of both setups?

I have the Look Keo Sprints. Got the on eBay from some guy in Hong Kong. They provide a nice wide platform; much wider than SPD. I have no experience with SPD-SL.

I recently had a bike fitting with a physical therapist who is also a big cyclist. He has and recommends the Keos. He also surprisingly recommended the use of the OEM cleats and not the cleats with additional float, even for those with knee problems. He did not recommend the Speedplay for those with bad knees.

I recently moved to cleats w/ no float on my LOOKS and all of my knee/hip flexor pain disappeared.

Default Me Too

I just had to get new cleats & went from the 5 to 0. Once I got them adjusted they feel awsome. More control & less knee strain

can you post up (or PM me) the name of the PT?

I am starting to ramp up my road miles up Chantry and GMR, and the road bike gives me aches and pains. was planning on having the local bike shop fit kit me... a PT might be better...

thnx

There is a guy out of Dons bikes in Rialto who really knows his stuff. He does it two different ways. One is computer assisted and the other is just from experience. I'll be doing the top end one, once I buy my new bike.

Rates are 65 for just a general type fitting, and 165, for a very detailed fit.

They have that trainer set up in there by the shoes that hooks up to the computer and everything. I wanna get that one so I can feel like I am playing a video game when I am sitting indoors on a trainer. Looks like fun to me.

I agree with Mike, unfortunately his name escapes me right now. But I will be there this week if you want me to pick up a card or a flyer send me a PM.

If you're in the OC, Jim at Sand Canyon Cyclery has the same type of set-up, with a computer to assist with the fit (and/or with experience). The shop is in Irvine, on Sand Canyon (duh) and Irvine Center
