I had to sign up w/o train return as well. For those not able to register today it is pretty common for people to sell their spots. Just have to keep an eye out.

I'm in with the train ride!
![]() A few coworkers (listed under the Honda Bicycle Club) are also in, so we'll have a good group. I'm sure some of them won't ride as a group, though. There is a rider on the list named Carrie Beers. Nice!

Shall I put SPD pedals on the M3 for you? That would be a pain to ride 100 miles with! ...But you probably mean the singlespeed. I have done road rides on the SS. I put Specialized slicks on it and a 16t sprocket in the back. I've done 30-40 mile rides like that. Actually, the gearing is a little spun out when trying to go fast, but it's great for cruising.

I missed it DR. I was busy this morning, 49 minutes is a small window in my line of work. (Water Buffalo Sheperd) Can I poach this? Or will I get taken out by 280lb Slovakian body guards as I anxiously pedal my shiny new road bike out of the safest city in America. (Irvine). ![]() |

The train ride entry may have closed at 7:49, but I had a couple friends sign up after 9:00. I was watching the last non-train 50 spots or so fill up until 9:30ish.

Cool. This thing is going to be a regular party ride. There are several people I work with from the City of Pasadena doing the ride as well.

Myself and 7 other friends all made it. Train ride back. I've been thinking about how I missed it last year, but it's only a bike ride and one year out of seven ain't bad. Most of our group will be at a pretty steady pace. I think we will be around 18 mph average, but if you guys want to build a good size group we can slow it down where we all work together. This is a ride you don't want to do to fast as sitting on the pier gets a little boring to me. Not sure if I can speed up our slower riders.

I'll likely be riding with a few friends and coworkers. It will likely be a relatively slow overall pace. However, some of us may go a bit faster and then wait at the different check points.
You're right about going fast and waiting at the dock, so it is nice to take your time and enjoy the scenery and the company. ![]()

I will be riding, at least for the first 20 or so miles, with my family. That being said, it is always hard for me when a "train" of riders goes by at a nice 18-22 miles per hour to just let them go. But i really dont want to just sit around down in san diego and wait for every one. When is everyone planning on starting, closer to 7 would mean less time in san diego but it will be hotter ride down the coast.

Sounds like fun as long as I can do it in a couple of hrs on my DH bike. We should all have at least 2.6 tires front and rear. I will dig up my full face helmet also in case anyone needs to use it. Willie wants to ride there and back. That sounds like a lot of riding. Before we do it we have to at least ride up sjt to the blue jay then ride down, then do 8 laps on the fully loop. That should be the perfect warm up.
