What a beautiful day. Jesse and I started early. We started in Long Beach at 6:50AM. The ride went fast and smooth.

Rather than riding through Camp Pendleton we took the 5 Freeway. This was an interesting experience, one that I don't think I will do again. It was faster but I was pretty nervous riding feet away from semis doing 60MPH. Half way through Pendleton I blew a drive side rear spoke. I don't have many spoke on my wheels so the wheel went way out of true. After a quick road side patch up job I was heading down the road with a very wobble rear wheel.

We stopped in the first bike shop we found towards the southern end of Oceanside. The wankers in the shop told me they were too busy to help. Now I don't know for sure if they guy who said he was too busy actually knew I was in the middle of a ride and 70 miles from home with 40 miles still to go. But I was dress like I was riding and was sweaty, so he could have asked. The next shop wasn't until Encenidas (SP?). Nitro Multisport was super cool and even though the shop guy was super busy stopped what he was doing and fixed my wheel good as new. He also earned a $13 tip and the shop got like $16 for the repair. To give the "other" shop the benefit of the doubt I don't think I'm going to public slam them but I do think I'm going to send them an email about the situation.

My plan is to ride home from San Diego on Friday morning. Should be fun. I'll let Jesse give the write up of his ride from Long Beach to Torre Pine and back to Irvine. Nice riding with you again Jesse.
