It's all such a mess. I think it boils down to this: The French hate the Americans because of their supreme domination at the tour, and the Spanish hate the Italians because of their supreme sense of Euro Style and Fashion (as well as all-around riding ability)

That is what I thought. I know I read that it was his idea because the team is looking for new sponsorship and his controversy was too distracting. But, I don't think we'll ever really know what goes on behind closed doors. Right, Lance?
