Finally got my new roadie delivered - should be up and running by the end of the week. This is going to be sweet and hopefully a new level of fitness - Spin up the FTL and lets ride
Oh and the piece de resistance was the new mountain bike upgrades that cost about 30% less because they were imported ![]()

Sauce - have you been on the Sauce?! I just got back from a night ride and a glass or red is making me feel great :-)
I promise not to be in the roadie bit too much - training, centuries and sight seeing only....well maybe....for now.....until I become more powerful than any rider....even Lance. OK no more vino for me when I'm tired and starving hungry! I havent had chance to use that back up light for its intended purpose yet...huh!

LOL! The XTR is for the Stumpy - there's an Ultegra groupset to go on the Hinde.
Anyone got any road saddle recommendations??

I just got a Specialized toupe pro saddle on a friends' recommendation and a couple short trial rides on his bike. I was put off by the dumb name but I rode a hilly 80 miler on it and like it much better than the Selle Italia trans am I just wore out and the flight I had before. 180 grams, very minimalist but for some reason very comfortable. Comes in two widths.

How much was the import tax? Or did you use the old "non useable samples" trick? |

Technically speaking they are below the import duty limit and as such I got the tax back on leaving the UK and didnt have to pay import duty to the USA - gotta love loopholes!
Check out some of the UK web sites if you're looking for cheap Shimano stuff.......or get an order in with me to bring some stuff back later in the year.

Pounds (or "L Dollarsigns" as I like to call them) are expensive. Costs $2 per 1L. So....are the price numbers less than 1/2 what they are here? I.E. $100 derailleur in U.S. only 500L's in U.K.?
I ask because I go there 1X per year and have my Parents in Law living there full time. I could easily have them get stuff for me. Don't be pushing me off the trail on the next night ride for my stupid American talk. I'm too lazy to look up the mappings for the pound symbol. |

I go back twice a year and havent scheduled either trip as yet. Shimano stuff and anything non american is uber cheap in the UK due to import duty and quotas etc.... plus I get a further 17.5% discount when taking goods out of the country because hey I'm English!
Andrew - there are some long drops on those trails at night It ought to be a rule on all rides to speak in an English accent.

This is going to be a 10speed? You need higher gearing up top don't you?You need some roadie cranks.
It ought to be a rule on all rides to speak in an English accent.
