PCH Closure Tomorrow

just a heads-up that pch will be closed--to cars and bikes--tomorrow (and southbound from warner to seapoint today because of flooding) from warner to beach blvd. because of the surf city marathon.

for that matter, probably a good day for everybody to avoid downtown h.b. as there will be 20,000 runners plus spectators there.

heres a good one, on my ride this morning on PCH, HB-NB-LB-HB all on PCH, the whole place in front of the waterfront where they stage for the marathon, there is people checking in and its a crapstorm people trying to parallel park, people parking on the opposite side of PCH from the expo and j-walking all over the place as close as 50ft from the crosswalks.... also, basically parking in the right lane (2 way on PCH there) until a spot opens up super close to the expo tents......all kinds of stuff.

are these lazy ass runners running a marathon, but too lazy to walk 50' to the damn crosswalk, or park an extra 300yds away and walk instead of blocking up the whole right lane where bicycles are trying to ride without getting plastered by traffic....c'mon....this is ridiculous.

i need a beer now

There is at least 15,000 people running that HAVE to pick up their packets either Friday or today. Give them a break were all on the same side.

PCH is usually closed for a bit longer than it has to be, though the runners and peds know that fact, too. Regardless, it is kind of nice to ride in the middle of the street without a splat fear.

If you want to start a rant, let's talk about the freeken people at the gym who cycle the parking lot and block aisles to get the closest spot to the gym. WTF? Aren't you looking for a workout? A walk is too much for you?
