I'm in. I had never heard of it so it will all be new to me. I'll be doing Vision Quest in March and plan on doing Julian Death March in April and then this in May.
I wonder how it will compare to Haleakela in Maui. That's 10,023' high and the route is 36 miles up.

That last push to Onyx is just awful.

I've done the Haleakela in Maui ride and because of the grade I'd say BA is definitely harder. Plus BA has more miles to it. The day I rode Haleakela it was even cool at the bottom ( I started at 4 am). When we got to the top of the volcano there was a cloud that we rode into. Eventually it passed but we were freezing in Hawaii! The grade seemed to be the same the whole way up.

I'm still planning on it, depending on weather! I don't mind cold, just don't want wet and cold.

I got the wait list notice that I can sign up next week.
Hopefully I'll remember.
FYI: DUH! I planned Hurkey camp out the same week-end as Mulholland Challenge! Not on purpose.
Let's see....kill myself or have a blast! No-Brainer!
I live near the route, I can kill myself any day.

How far and what elevation gain are you talking about for the pre-ride? I plan on doing this next year so I wouldn't mind trying to get some climbing done up there, but not sure I have the base yet.

If I understand the route correctly, it's around 55 miles and 6,400' of gain if we climb all the way to AO.

I did two runs up Damnation Alley on Wednesday as part of my regular training. It was damn cold coming down the last time at around 5pm. I think my GPS said something like 44 degress.....Felt great going up, down - not so much.

How about a 10k century in OC? Good training without the drive. Well at least for me.

No pre-ride for me. Crash this weekend hitting the hood of a car on Modjeska Grade. Three stitches that are in for ten days. There's plenty of time for a pre-ride before the event.

Red Hawk, Are you leading? It would be nice to have a bit of a pace line.

Berg, If the pre-ride is off, then I'd be down for a local century. Got a route in mind?

A moving car or a parked car? Road bike or MTB?

Glad you're OK!

This route includes the 7 Sisters, which will be plenty tough and prepare you well for Decker and company.
The ride was created by Byron, he is the nutty professor that gets credit for this beast.

Yeah Berg answered it. Car stopped, I thought he was letting me pass. As I went by he turned into his driveway. I clipped the hood and few. All in all not a bad crash and I dodged a bullet for sure. Need to replace a rear rotor and possible the rear derailleur.
