Does this sell out? Haven't finalized my racing schedule for mountain bikes and I would love to get some road rides in. I have also never done a century, is it just like a relaxed ride? Or do you get a lead pack formed that is pretty serious about going fast?

I don't think it sells out, since you can register the day before. This is more of a fundraiser. The website says they expect to have over 9000 riders. The course is very flat and pace is what ever you want it to be.

Was going to do the 55 miler as a training ride/CTS field test day. February in the desert in beautiful. I miss living there sometimes...

Yah I did thanks. By the time I got around to signing up it was sold out so I signed up for the Mulholland Challenge instead.

Nah...not yet. The wife is going to do the 55 miler and I'll do the century. We are in the process of buying a house so I don't think we can buy any more bikes for a while.

I've rode it 8 times and I've never seen it sell out.

This was the first century I ever did - about two months after getting my road bike. Did the ride with Mike. Good times! It is a very fast and pretty easy, assuming there is no wind. Very well supported event with tons of riders.

I might do it if my wife is up for going to PS for the weekend. Otherwise I will skip it. For the effort and costs involved I'd prefer to do a self supported ride out of Pasadena. I can ride to San Diego and get more miles in for less than the cost of registration.

Yeah, lets do it again Brian. I'll just drive out from my house though as the rooms were to expensive. That was a fun ride.

Yeah, last time I did it I brought the wife and she went to a spa (200$) then paid another $130 for the room (nothing special) and she dropped another 150 at the Casino. So for gas and money for the ride and the late fee. I dropped over 500 dollars for what I could of done for free. Yep, next time I'll just drive from home.

Yah, nothing really special about this one but its my wife's first endurance event. I heard that this one is a good starter event (fairly flat, well supported, and great atmosphere). I have a aunt with a place in PS so we are going to be squatting for the night.

Thumbs up

I know, what am I doing in the roadie forum?

I'd like to get my first 100 miler in, and this could be a pretty cool way to do it.
Is the ride on Saturday, and do you think it's single speed (my only "road" bike) friendly?

I did it on a single speed so I know you would have no problem.
I was running 42X17 but if I do it this year it'll be 15 in the rear.
