There are a crap load of riders so you probabley want to meet up outside the staging area (near a parking lot) and then get to the front of the stageing area early so you can lead and get out early. This is the one ride where they let people out in small bunches instead of a massive release. The release point is the Washington Mutal on Palm Canyon

Provided the route doesn't change too much, there's a small park (Desert Highland Park) on Tramview Rd just before you leave the city. It's right around the 3.5 mile mark.

Granted the North End isn't the best area to stop and hang out given the less than desirables that inhabit the area. There should be enough people out and early enough that it won't be a problem.

Here's a link for Google Maps.

I'm planning on hitting the 55 miler that starts at 8am. Maybe 2 groups would work. One for the 55 and another for the 100 milers.

This will probably be my first century as well. My wife is conteplating it, but she's talking herself out of it and wanting to do the 55. I don't know if I'll be able to keep up a 18-20mph cadence, but I'll try and hang with you guys.

I usually average 17+ in organized rides so 18-20 in a group should be easy? still trying to convince my friend to go, which would put me back in the 58 mile ride.

No you can do it in the morning too. I did that a few years ago. There is a side street where they have the tables.

I am doing the century but I have not signed up yet but I don't think I want to do an unsupported century so I will bite the bullet ($70).

100 miles is a long time to be riding in the rain. You guys (and girls) be safe out there.

That park is the hood. We rented the gym for a party one night - good thing there was 300 of us!
