I need some wheels for my new roadie and was going to go for either Easton Vista SL's ($300) or some Mavic Kyserium Elite ($500). The Easton's are actually lighter but I cant find any reviews of them.
Has anyone got any experience with these wheels or can recommend some road wheels? I dont want to spend more than $500.

I've occasionally see some Kyserium SL's going for around 500 on the classifieds in RoadbikeReview.com, they usually get snatched up pretty quick though. The elites don't really get any complaints, but no glowing reviews either. I've only seen the Easton's a couple times. I heard they are a good deal for the money, but no first hand knowledge. Easton hasa proven track history, so I wouldn't be afraid of purchasing them.

You should also check out the Reynolds Alta Race on Price Point or Blue Sky Cycles. The name is slightly different on each site but the wheel is the same. Great review on Road Bike Review and Bike Forum. They run for $230 down from $600. I got a pair an am happy with them so far, but what the hell do I know I'm new to road bikes. But seriously, the price is impossible to beat and they are pretty darn light.
If I had more money I would get the Mavic Kyserium SL. Every comment I read on forums is how durable they are, or bulletproof is more like it. I hope my Reynolds treat me well.

I have Eastons, though a different wheel, and I love them. Of course, I haven't had issues with my road wheels yet--had Mavic Ksyriums stock on the Felt and they seemed just fine too.
By they way, anyone want a Felt bike (love my new fitted bike)

I have a Ksyrium SSL CL's and Easton Ascent II's - and the Easton's roll just a nice as the Mavic's but weigh less. I've heard the bearings can go on the Easton's but that's from someone who rode them 10,000 miles per year - repeatedly. Had them since February and love em'. Check RoadBikeReview: cycling gear reviews, forums, and classifieds - I bought mine overstock from some East coast road team for $500. Good luck.

I'm looking towards maybe getting a blackwell research wheel sometime in the future. 100mm deep, now that is DEEP! I don't know if I am going to get the front and then get a disc for the back or if I am going to get like 100mm deep in the back and then either like 100 or 60mm deep in the front. Right now its just a dream because im poor and just glad to have a bike
