Having ridden the Tour de Taco and the Tour de Foothills, I'm up for some longer and more epic road rides. I see that there is a Tour de Palm Springs which has a century in February and a Death Valley century in March. Who's up for these? Training for these and riding them will give us great legs for the mtb season! Plus, some kick ass scenery!!! I am very interested in the Death Valley century. The Palm Springs sounds good, too. I think these are a ton of fun when groups go together.

Both were in the Inland Empire. Tour de Taco was a ride where we stopped at 5 different Taco Nazos, or whatever they're called (Senor Bajas?), and ate fish tacos. That was 53 miles for me. Then, the Tour de Foothills was 64 miles and all around the Upland, Claremont, San Dimas, LaVerne, R.Cucamonga, Fontana area. So, something more exotic seems in order.

No, you're right. It's just that there's a lot more rides during the spring and summer, from what I've seen. And, I plan to be able to keep up with all the fast guys this next year. Or, at least only be a few minutes behind. I dunno. Maybe I just didn't go on many rides last winter because I was still so out of shape. I mean, it was February when EpicMtnBiker took me to Marshall Cyn for the first time and I wanted to die, thought I would die, after 5 miles. Then, a month later, Turnbull did the same thing. Anyway, when we go back to the Plunge and stuff, I don't want to lag like last year. I gotta keep dropping fat and putting on muscle. Then, maybe I can keep up with Jose. ![]()

Dam, do you know what they get for a slightly used white boy now down below the border. C'mon Glen let's go... I'll look out for you
.Palm Springs Century is a good one but the roads are crap. Lots of broken up roads and sometimes it feels like you're riding in gravel, but I do like the scenery and I usually do this one at a casual pace. We have taken over 7 hours to finish it before, but it was well worth it. Tour de Sewer was okay, but it rained that day and was pretty cold. I'd like to try the route again in decent weather. Ensenada / Rosarito is very fun, but again it's not a ride to rush through. I love throwing all that candy to the kids. If I do it again I'd rather book a room in Ensenada and stay there the second night. The parties that go on there are unbelieveable. I'll do this again if we can get a decent size group going.

Death Valley? No mention of Death Valley? That has to be the best one, I would think. The others are just warm ups for that one!
No way anyone can call you a p***y after you ride in Death Valley. ![]()

Doing the Rosarito/Ensenada on a road bike is weaksauce! If you're gonna do it, do it on a mtn bike. I did this one back in 2002, fun ride and you can stop midway and have a few cold ones.
The going rate on a slighty used gringo is about 1000 pesos or a few beers and some tacos. |

it makes going off the road and onto the dirt shoulder a lot easier when you have avoid a few of the knuckleheads who can't keep a stright line on pavement can't wait to do this next time on a road bike, it should be a whole new experience.
