Default EA90 v EC90 stem

why's the EC90 stem much more expensive (nearly double) when it's slightly heavier than the EA90 which has +/- 10* of rise?

A=aluminum
C=carbon

is the answer in the above?

<--not a roadie

Carbon is not always the way to go. I was searching for carbon handlebars for my bike, and found Deda Newtons (made from aluminum) to be lighter than many carbon bars, less fragile, and half the price.

Compare the price and weight of a Thompson Masterpiece seatpost with many carbon ones, same results.

Run away from the EC90. Mine broke in the first month. Deda Newton is a basic, no frills option. EA would be fine to.

Like others have said, the material, and the carbon factor.

Some of the best road bike parts are aluminum.
