I do several rides during the week. I do a long one on Tuesday from my house near Lake Ave to Upland about 60 mile round trip, and sometimes do a long ride on Saturday from my local bike shop, (Pasadena cyclery) with a few friends either a short 30 or a long one down the San Gabriel river trail to Long Beach and back about 90 miles. Also we do another ride on Thursday from the bike shop again around the area in the hills above the rose bowl. I was throwing these out if anyone is interested in joining us or me for any of them. The Thursday and Saturday ride are both group rides, my Tuesday ride is usually a solo. We meet on Thursday about 6pm but now with time change hoping to meet about 5:30pm and Saturday is about 7am and My Tuesday various between 6am and 7am.
We'll always looking to have people join our rides. We ride pretty quick but we don't leave anybody behind, girls are welcome. (The rest of the time I'm trying to find mountains to climb)

As far as the roadie rides from pasadena, I am working on getting a new road bike. Got the commuter, the new mtb (bling pics later), and a 22 year old road bike. That will hopefully change next month.

I'm actually going tonight. Planning on leaving the office (which is in Old Pasadena) at 5:30ish. I'll PM my contact info. Let me know if you are interested in going.

My 2 cents for best Pasadena road ride is actually, well... above Arcadia.
Santa Anita Blvd turns into the Chantry Flats Rd. About 4 miles and 1200' gain? I live in Sierra Madre, and the ride to the base is a mere warm-up, so sometimes I'll do 2 laps which is still pretty light duty for you fitter, younger riders. It's also a nice low-to-no traffic option at dusk and beyond. They now close the gate at early as 8PM, so there are times you have the empty road to yourself... |
