Wiens beat Landis last year so I'd say he's not too much of an underdog.

I can't even imagine racing 100 miles on a mountain bike... let a lone on the road! Hat is off to anybody that competes in this race.

Pat, If I tried doing that I'd probably fall in another hole..... The VQ is the longest race I've competed in to date... and that was enough for me!

That's actually a different bad-ass Dave. That's Dave Harris, currently based in St. George. He's been absolutely owning the un-supported ultra-distance scene for a few years now.

I was gonna say I thought Wiens lived in Gunnison and was married to someone that isn't Lynda Wallenfelds, but he could've gotten divorced, moved, yadda yadda...

Thanks for clarifying.

Lance will cancel due to "a scheduling conflict". He doesn't want a showdown with Floyd.

The man's got power though!
I've heard Floyd is the same way. I was in the SM100 last year when Floyd raced it. He and Harlan Price were duking it out. Harlan had the edge in the tech stuff but Floyd would pass him on the flats and road sections.

Would have been cool if he went with the 29er.

Default Lance Armstrong racing Leadville 100

So Lance Armstrong is racing the Leadville 100 this year.

Is he going to beat Dave Weins?

Discuss.

Um, aren't both brands owned by the same company?

I think he liked the fully 26er better for the specific application.

Default go Dave GO

Dave should win. He's done it five times. I hope he takes it. 43 years and killing it. Go Dave Go!

However, there's other super hardcores racing this thing also, so somebody else may pull an upset. No question, Lance can rock Le Tour with a team of ultra-strong roadies, but alone, at altitude in the dirt on a one day race? Hmmm, maybe, but I doubt it.

I'd love to see some TV and/or on-line coverage of the event. Anyone know of a way to get coverage?

Hopefully Dave's bike won't fail him, this thing looks questionable:
