Default My leg goes numb on the left after 20 min!!!

So I got a new pair of good shoes and speed play set up, and my left leg went numb. I went in to IE and matt said to move the shoe back to get more on it. I did it and yea it gives me more power but I still go numb. The shoes are good shoes pro carbon to be exact, they fit right, feal good, and are not to hot. So any ideas?

Matt's really good at bike fitting ... have you taken your bike into the shop for him to see you on it?

You could always have your leg amputated... Glad I could help. The thanks button is in the bottom right hand corner.

Just how much of your leg is going numb? The foot, from the ankle down, knee down, hip down?

Leg numbness would be a lot different from foot numbness so that is a good question.

If really it's just your foot, then I would guess your shoe is too big.

If it's the leg, then I would guess you're over-extending the leg with the new setup and need to drop your saddle a few mm.

may sound silly but i did an old school trick to cure this once. i moved the saddle just a slight bit towards the foot that went numb. just a touch to the side so its not perfectly straight over the top tube. seemed to clear it up.

Are your shoes too tight? Cranked down too much?

i did 25 miles to day around noon in town and it did it again after 10 miles after I got out of meadow view the foot went full numb. I took weight off it hit my hill, and it just tingled the rest of the ride!!!??? can i work out the foot to build it up, or find out why it is pinched?

I use the Pro Carbon as well. I thought the inner part of the sole felt very elevated so I use the thinnest outer shim. Also, are you using the right insole for your foot? I use the blue insole as most riders probably do - it's right in the middle for arch support. I've always been told the cleat placement should be at ball of foot. All that being said, on long rides if I have the shoe cranked too tight my foot will go a little numb.

This might sound obvious but if you didn't have this problem with your old shoe/pedal set up then it's got to be something mechanical vice something physiological. I'd really suggest you bring your set up back to the shop and have Matt take another look. It's most likely something as simple as cleat placement or a pinch point in your left shoe.

I know that roadies are normally not as smart as us more practical MTBers. But why don't you just go back to your old type of shoes and pedals that did not cause the problems?

How long have you been riding this bike? I ask because it may not be your shoes and pedals. You have the same problem with the old shoes and pedals too? Then what does that tell you? Try and new saddle or maybe its the bikes geo.

I went to my buddys shop as I was in OC and he said it is .5 to small and I should have been fit in a wide!!! But he said that may not be the true issue but I have to drop coin on new shoes to find out. I ride a cervelo soloist carbon, and my old shoes were mtb shimano with xtr clip in till I could get road ones.
