I'm registered but have not been climbing near enough. Man, this is gonna hurt. Anybody else doing this century?

The day of my accident was the day I was accepted. So WTH, 10 days of training will make it interesting.

Sorry Matt, this one sold out in hours. 112 miles and somewhere around 12K of climbing.

Default Count me in...

I will be riding this with Dirtmistress until she drops me like yesterday's news. Actually, Liz got me through my first Mulholland Challenge so I hope she will do the same for this ride. The relentless climb will be hard and all of my training to date has topped out at about 2300 feet so the altitude will be tough, too.

But, I will give it my best, hope for good conditions and enjoy it!

The difference between an ordeal and an adventure is attitude!

If you see me on the ride, remind me of that!

I'm signed up have ridden it twice, but I am probably not going for the whole thing because I am trying to get ready for Xterra, so I think I want to train the next day too. If I do the whole thing / 4 pass I won't be training the next day so not sure what I am doing.

If you are doing this for the first time or haven;t been doing extended climbs its going to be an A$$ kicker. Its basically 3 climbs...the first one is a bump the second is Glen Oaks ~6 miles and the 3rd/4th is from Mill Creek to Onyx summit 31 Miles 20 of it up hill

Hi Beth! I rode 80 miles today just shy of 4 grand and it hurrrrt! So you shall be coaching ME through the ride.
I forgot it's at altitude! Sh*t! That is always a bad one.
I'm going to keep positive and you can pull me up!
Hey Mike, race you for Lantern Rouge bragging rights!!

So I should put on my 25 and remove the 23?

Most definitely unless you are a bona fide mountain goat. Oak Glen has a few 11% and up to 16% spots and plus when you are just hanging on you will appreciate it. I wimp out and bring a 27, I only use it in a couple spots but hey its there.

I assume You've seen the elevation profile/analysis

Default I'm in!

I've been on the road bike 3-4 times in the last 6 months. I hope all the VQ training and regular MTB rides are enough training for the B.A. I could use a good A$$ Kick'n.

Whatever gets me to the top of this ride will be well worth it. I just can't climb like I used to and need all the help I can get! It is pretty hard to get a long climb in the Santa Monica mtns and I just haven't made it east of here recently. Is is wrong to use the event as a training ride?
