Default Lost another rider

Saturday I was scheduled to ride with my road club, but after waking up late and looking at all the other stuff I had to do. I figured I'd blow it off till later in the day when it warmed up a little.

So I wasn't at the ride when this happened.....

Our club regulary invites different people from different clubs all the time to come ride with us and this past weekend we had a rider all the way from Redding Velo come out to join us. He elected to go on what we call the long ride (instead of the fast ride, so as not to offend anybody), well, the group had done most of the climbing and were coming down Euclid in Upland when our guest went down. There was no contact with another bike or vehicle. Just about 100 yards from 24th St. And this morning they turned off the life support. The gentlemans name was Dale Wright. I'm not sure of his age. So sad to have this happen. He was visiting his family down here when this tragic accident happened.

Lots of stuff to add to the prayer list, so sorry to hear about this, he wasn't from the club in Covina? That's what I had been told, tragic regardless.

Mike, I was away in Utah this Saturday also and missed the Cycling Connection ride. Phil called to let me know. Unfortunate.

Wow, I grew up about 3 blocks from there. What a bummer. Was he going overly fast? I know you can pick up a lot of speed coming down from Baldy Rd/25th st.

That turn always seems to catch me off guard. You are gaining speed down the hill, and the string of turns before that has this nice flowing sense of rhythm to it, when all of a sudden you are met with a stop sign around a blind corner.

Sorry to hear the bad news.

This is so sad!! My prayers go out to his family. This is a few blocks from my house hadn't heard about it yet. We had a cyclist badly injured above 25th this past year you really pick up speed there. What a sad week for our cycling family.
