The Roadie Hangout Turns out some mountain bikers are also part-time roadies. Keep all road content here, porfavor.

Default So cal roadie forum

Is there an equivalent roadie-oriented forum for the So-Cal region that's active like STR?

Bikeforums.com in long distance forum is pretty active. Also Roadbikereview.com (MTBR off shoot) Then there's a bunch more but I can't remember them all.

There is the www.bikeforums.net SoCal Regional forum. Up until a few weeks ago, it was really active. Then, something mysterious happened.

EDIT: There is a ride this Saturday leaving from Encanto Park at 7:30AM going up Mount Baldy.

Silly mountain biker, roadies don't chat in forums, they just read forums.

Kinda like they don't say hi to you on the road, they just stare ahead and ignore you.

I know thats not entirely true but its kinda true. People I meet on the dirt are usually much nicer than those I meet at stoplights on the road. Maybe because the one's at the stoplights know they are about to be crushed when the light turns green.

That's not entirely true but its kinda true.

Kind of not really true. I ride both and wave at people I pass regardless. Heck I even wave or nod at runners.

Maybe it's just me but the BF Socal forum seems clickish (not necessarily in a bad way). Maybe there are just a lot of really good friends that frequent the forum. I have never met any of them and they are nice when I post. RBR is a great forum but the So Cal board is DEAD. I have received some great advice on RBR when researching my De Salvo frame. Oh and the Podium Girls board is fun too.

What's wrong with us? Kidding. I wish there was a local only roadie forum with the same involvement and vibe as here on STR.

Lots of people have said the BF.net SoCal board is "cliquish." There is an easy resolution to this "problem." Show up for the rides, and post regularly.

Mt. Baldy this Saturday, for example, or Santiago Canyon this Sunday.

They were doing that 'socal bf' jersey, then the mods thought it was inappropriate for other people to profit off of bf. They didn't realize that 1, the forum would be getting free publicity and 2, it was not for profit. After that, any mention of the incident on any thread was deleted. People threw a fit then started another website.

It's basically day time soap with even less nutritional content.

No I agree. I tried to qualify my reasoning for that statement, though maybe unsuccessfully. It's hard sometimes when you don't know people and there are so many inside jokes and topics go astray with small talk. In the end it is a good and active board with lots of good rides posted and it is on me that I don't know people not them.

That's not exactly what happened. The "other forum" existed before the jersey fiasco, mainly because bikeforums was down alot. The jersey became a fiasco because of the actions of one of the moderators.

If you're truly that concerned, you need to look around more closely.

I've been posting unabated since I was "banned."
