What he said. Keep it the way it is. Converting it to SS would be like taking a classic car like a 65 Mustang and putting spinners on it .

Exactly. Although I feel you have gotten a common consensus around here. Thanks for adhering to current STR vintage bike regulations.

I was gonna say as well - Ebay it in parts, Duan. Its worth some serious coin that way. BTW, that bike was the shizzle when it came out. Probably close to 2 grand at the time. Nice papa! Riding it? Hmm, I used to have a Specialized carbon frame similar to that one and it was kinda flexy. And even though that Campy stuff is beautiful and vintage, it doesn't ride /shift/brake anywhere near Shimano's light feel. They've since improved upon that but back then, you'd really notice the difference between that group and Dura-Ace.
You riding anywhere this Sunday? I'm looking for somewhere to get to that's new, or not. Just been hitting the Santa Monica's with my sister and her hubby on Sundays but have this one solo.

The guy that owns this shop knows road bikes. I think he coached the olympic team back in the 80's and his wife was a national track champion. He has quite the attitude but would treat that bike right.

There is also a shop in Seal Beach that only fixes bikes all the way down Seal Beach Blvd. past PCH. He was Lance Armstrong's mechanic for a while and goes to the tour every year.

I remember that c-record stuff from a while back. Killer stuff, don't convert it! Just clean it up and get that thing back on the road...I'd check the health of the carbon before riding it too seriously.

I'm all for classic bikes, but this thing is hideous! Just my opinion

Truly awesome! Strip it down to a SS/fixed, sell the campy on ebay. Once the novelty wears off you'll prob never ride it like it is. To some (me included) it will be the "coolest" old bike, to most newer riders it will just be an "old" bike.

I recall seeing those brakes back in the day. Wow. You could hang that bike in Bannings in Fullerton. He's got some very nice retro tech hanging in his shop.

You owe it to yourself, and all vintage aficionados, to never let that beautiful ride out of your clutches. Clean it, lube it, ride it, love it. Do NOT change a thing. If you have to, only change the seat for riding comfort. But find a period correct saddle that suits your bum.

Vintage bikes, road or mountain, are meant to be ridden.

That bike is pretty nice!!!

You'll do fine to clean it up and ride it, but don't break a thing.

We had a real nice old cinelli in our shop with those delta breaks and one of the springs and its associated assembly were shot. You'd never believe the hoopla we had to go through to get the part. I am pretty sure one of the managers ended up watching ebay for about 3 weeks and then bid on the parts.

Luckily the guy who brought it in recognized how hard it would be to get the parts, and appreciated the effort we spent getting them.

I'm with everyone that says to leave it as it is... Sure, it doesn't shift as smoothly as all the new stuff, but that's why they're "new" and that bike's "classic." That flexiness is part of the reason classic bikes ride so magically. Either way, whatever you do, that's an awesome bike. Do ride it
