Just an update for everyone that replied to the original post and has been following this thread very closely....

The proposal was approved and the race has been added to the calendar on Saturday, July 12th, 2008.

Apparently there will be a small rise somewhere along the course, and I'm guessing that section will be a good place to watch people suffer and/or pop. For me, I'm looking for a little redemption because I did really bad the last time I rode a course that had a hill in it.

Short video of the course on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRgxpa9212A

I work right where the course ends/starts so unless you are completely out of shape that hill is easy to climb. Good luck and have fun to those that are entering.

Is anyone going to ride this?

I tried riding Manhattan Beach and had a blast (my first road thingie), this looks fun too. And, maybe I can beat my last place finish

Well you can't beat your last place finish if you don't race...so it sounds like you're racing!

Last place finish is one thing, but did you finish with the pack or were you off the back?

I will be there bright and early for the first race (cat 5) of the day.

You raced at Manhattan Beach today and it was your first race? Did you sneak into the women's field or something? I couldn't race today because they pulled the cat 5 race in favor of a womens 3/4.

I AM women's 3/4 (obviously 4)...I fell off the back around the last turn, but was still in front of the motorcycle at the back of the pack. I don't think anyone else fell off the pack on the last lap?!?! I wasn't pulled off the field, shouldn't that count for something?

For Aliso, I won't be out until almost 3pm. But, I'll be out early (John will be Cat 5, too), so I'll cheer you on Uber

Edit: Second to last place, I kept up my Penultimate status

So you stayed with the pack until the last turn? That's a good result for your first race.

If you can hang with the pack until the end, then think what might happen if you dig a little and move up the field with 2 or 3 laps to go. I'm pretty new at this too and found myself in a similar situation not long ago and ended up just outside top 10 instead of 48th or something like that by moving up the field before the pace picked up. You win the same amount of money (nothing), but the better finish sounds way better on blogs and what not.
