That is the great thing about the road bike......you don't need to do a route.....just get on the bike and ride it......anywhere you want to. You will find that you ride places that you probably would never drive your car to.
Take PCH up to Seal Beach and back. Go through Santiago Canyon. Take PCH to Santa Ana River trail up to Green River and back. Just go out and explore. |

Matt, check out www.routeslip.com
You can find routes other people have already mapped out and it will give you elevation charts, and mileages, etc. http://www.routeslip.com/discover/USA/CA/ Just click on a city you would like to ride through/to and you might see some cool routes. Another good site is www.bikemetro.com You can type in a starting and ending location and pick your hill tolerance level and it'll select a route for you suitable for biking. The maps also show you what roads have bike lanes or bike paths. |

Heyy thats great you have a road bike. What kind of bike did you get.
When I come home for the summer in May we'll have to do some rides. I usually cruised South to Oceanside along the coast. Santiago Canyon is good too. The best part of road riding is leaving from your front door and not touching your car. |

I thought it might have just been my computer...I sent them a bug report.
The Bikemetro site works. Here's the direct link for the routing page. http://www.bikemetro.com/route/routehome.asp If it doesn't work, try refreshing the page. |

I personally like riding the freeway and skipping Pendleton altogether. If you do ride Pendleton follow every traffic rule there is and then some. They don't take kindly to the smallest of infractions. The freeway will give you a tailwind, both ways, the only draw back is, if there are any cars in the emergency lane then you have to stop and wait till you can see a break in the traffic so you can get around them. It's a distance of 5 miles both south and north and if your legs aren't to worked you can fly through this section. Just be careful and keep an eye out for drivers not paying attention.

On Sat. I rode down to the gate to Pendleton after you under the 5. It ended up being a total of 60 miles. It was fun. I rode with Nicky a 72 year old that does iron mans all the time. And Sarah, also an amazing rider. She was the first amputee to finish Kona.

sounds like some characters! Hoping to do Ironman's when I'm 72, that's cool. I am always blown away by the challenged athletes, pretty mind boggling. If you're hanging with those guys, sounds like your Felt might find itself at an Ironman start line sometime!
