The Roadie Hangout Turns out some mountain bikers are also part-time roadies. Keep all road content here, porfavor.

Default SDSR Anyone?

I've committed a cardinal mtb sin by skipping Fontana this week to do the SDSR Stage Race. Anyone else? Attrition is rampant, only about 1/2 of the racers in each category have made the cutoffs. Mighty spendy way to do painful training rides.

We missed you out there yesterday. Perfect weather, but the course was much looser than we had and SRWS #4. O'mara did a 1:38 for the fastest time of the day including Semi-Pros. I beat last race's time by a minute, but it was only good for 8th. I think the placing were as follows:
1 O'mara
2 Langin
3 Carol
4 Sullivan
5 Stephenson
6 Takeda
7 Some guy from Az
8 Me

Hope to see you at Santa Ynez.

Hey J.

Nice to see B. is firing on all cylinders again (or maybe not). Guess I'm not so sorry to have missed it, looks like it was smoking fast. I had a teammate in the 50+ and he described the change at the start with the quick steep climb at near the start that caused a bottleneck. I suppose that's the last you saw of Johnny, Bobby, and Dermott.

Thanks for the update. My next for sure event is Sea Otter. See you around.

I managed to finish in dead last place of the front pack both yesterday and today. Still moved up a place to 26th overall. Kind of funny really.

If there are any Rock Racing fans here, and if you happen to be into rare bicycling swag, I have for sale a lightly used Rock Racing trucker hat for sale. The hat came off during the last lap of the road race in Bonelli, and it was worn by one of the team riders.

On a more serious note, those guys in the P/1 race were flying! A few of them went over 19mph on the KOM climb. Good lord.

And if you want, you can touch my arm...where water was splashed on me from those juvi chicks in the Rock support Escalades - they were dumping water out of the truck as they rolled past the bystanders at the start. Their job, evidently, is to attract as much attention to themselves as possible. But those were some mightly clean Cadillacs.

That image of Oscar posted up at Cycling News must have been reversed, right? Otherwise, how about the center line rule? Maybe there's a translation issue.

The officials were a little more lax on the centerline rule for sections of the track where they knew traffic was closed (or at least very closely monitored). They let the bigger fields take up the whole width of the road on the section that paralled the airport almost every lap.

It was a little sad seeing tour caliber riders like Sevilla riding these domestic races though.
