Tour de OC - ride for abused children

Wondering if anyone has heard of or done this ride?

I never had, but it's a good cause so I think I'll sign up.

Looks like a good cause but wouldn't they have better luck without the $150 min pledge?

I've had a couple friends do it and they didn't like the way it was set up. Numerous complaints. I personally have no first hand knowledge, so I won't go on about what their complaints were.

I will ask them to address this post though.

Anyone else have comments on this ride? I hate to pass up a century in my back yard, but not sure if its organized enough to fork out the dough. I agree its for a good cause, as long as the money actually goes TO the cause. I wonder if there is any support from the PD or CHP to ride around busy OC, or are we just on our own.

They may possibly get a better turn-out, but the key is to try and raise as much money as possible.

$150 is only $5/each from 30 people.

Or you can ride the 25 miler with a $75 minimum. That's only $5/each from 15 people.

Any idea where the route is? Minimizing traffic is important to me. Last week I did the Spring Classic by OC Wheelmen. It was scary dangerous the route they choose, at prime trafic time. I hate to pass it up too. April 5 is the Stagecoach Classic in Ocotillo. I really enjoyed that one....100 miles and only 2 stop signs!
