REI's doing the 20% off one item sale right now. So if you're looking for a good touring bike, the Novara Randonee at the price of 760 after discount is a much better deal than the Surly Long Haul trucker or any other ~1K touring bike.

The Safari is an awesome trekking bike too, and should work great for bikepacking rides. The Safari would be 680.
