I'm in too, Liz.

Signed up yesterday morning. I think it's sold out now.

Also inked for Mulloholland, and Heartbreak Hundred, all over 12K of climbing.

Depending on how these go I might throw in Ride Around the Bear for another 12K. I should have my climbing legs by then?

Wow...good luck to those of you riding this event. I'm doing VQ, but man, that many miles on a road bike hurts me just thinking about it

I've practiced going up and down the 38 ala fixie and the worst part is the road past Mill Creek Ranger station all the way to Forest Falls...a nasty little constant incline...I used a 48x20 and it was effing tough!

What someone hasn't finished in under 4? just joking... that seems like an "Average" speed for a roadie pro to finish....

I'd take 4 days, 37 hours....and a few minutes! Gotta tow the Bob with the keg!

Those doing these races/rides should get a training schedule on here like the others have for VQ & CC.

How does the climbing on this ride compare to the Markleeville Death Ride?

For both the Markleeville Death Ride and the Breathless Agony, the above miles represents the distance from the Start to the Finish for that Pass Option.
From the above table, you might conclude that the Breathless Agony isn't nearly as difficult as the Markleeville Death Ride. However, you are missing a very critical difference: with the Markleeville Death Ride, you get some rests after each climb as you descend down the other side. The Breathless Agony is truly agonizing with most of it's climbing in the 30 miles from the Mill Creek Ranger Station to the top of Onyx Summit ... a "brute of a climb that just goes up and up."
Well I just found this in answer to SheDevil's post about doing a real mountain climb!! The Markleeville Death ride. Hmmm, guess I better take off the 21 and go with a 39x23!! Maybe a 25. NO compacts here!!

The graph didn't come out. Don't know why. It's under FAQ.

That is amazing, to do that on a fixie. I rode around the bear with a guy on a fixie, but he didn't finish. He sagged in on the climb up to Onyx summit. But I have no doubt you'll go flying by everyone and I'd just like to hang on long enough to see some of the gapping mouths.

Listen...either way I'm not doing it baby!!!! You know how I climb....good until a point, and then I want my mommy(and this is an ugly side I try not to share often). And yeh....I have a compact double too....not a chance in H-E-double hockey sticks.
